Westwood Bales Room Parent Information

What is a Room Parent?

Each year a room parent is selected to help coordinate various aspects of the school year for the child's homeroom class. There will be one Room Parent per class (no co-room parents).

What does a Room Parent do?

• Attends all 3 class parties - Fall, Winter, and End of Year
• Communicates with class parents to determine party attendees (each child is allowed one guest per year for one party)
• Coordinates any donations needed for parties including food, drink, craft and/or activity, and decorations
• Celebrates their homeroom teacher's birthday
• Celebrates their assigned auxiliary teacher's birthday
• Assists with communication efforts as needed/requested between PTO and homeroom parents

How do I become a Room Parent?

• Applications can be submitted from August 9th (teacher assignments posted) through August 31st. No late applications will be accepted.
• Room Parents will be selected through a drawing with the Westwood and Bales Principals and announced in early September
• Room Parents must be available to attend all 3 class parties:
  • Fall - October 31, 2024 at 1:00pm
  • Winter - December 20, 2024 at 9:00am
  • End of Year - May 22, 2025 Westwood at 9:30 am Bales at 10:30am

*The beginning of the year "Room Parent Meeting" is mandatory for those selected. There will be a daytime option and an evening option, following the first PTO meeting of the year (date TBD)

**IMPORTANT- By completing the sign-up, you are agreeing to follow ALL district policies when it comes to events, class parties etc. You are also agreeing to complete a volunteer profile, background check and volunteer training.**
